Danish Hydrographic Office nautical chart
The nautical charts published by the Danish Hydrographic Office (DHO) and dedicated to Greenland are the official reference for navigation in Greenlandic Arctic waters. Designed for extreme conditions, they cover coastlines, fjords, and straits, and provide essential information on bathymetry, navigational hazards, glacial areas, and the limited aids to navigation. They are primarily intended for professional mariners, scientific expeditions, and experienced recreational sailors. Their main strength lies in their official status and their adaptation to polar environments. However, hydrographic coverage may be incomplete in some areas, accuracy can vary, and their technical complexity is high. Despite their cost and limitations, these charts remain indispensable for planning and securing navigation in Greenland.
