Transportation Log
The Transport Logbook brings together documents used to record and monitor operations relating to the maritime carriage of cargo, from loading and cargo handling through to discharge and throughout the voyage. It can be used to record information concerning cargo movements, loading operations, stowage, securing, cargo handling and significant events occurring during transport. This documentation is relevant to container ships, bulk carriers, general cargo ships, ro-ro vessels and other merchant ships operating in the English Channel, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea or Indian Ocean. It supports the safety requirements governing the carriage of cargo under SOLAS, as well as the regulations applicable to dangerous goods, including the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code. A Transport Logbook provides useful operational traceability for Masters, deck officers, cargo officers, shipowners and fleet managers, particularly during port operations, inspections, audits and Port State Control activities.
