Description détaillée

Product sold only on quote, PLEASE CONTACT US.

The price displayed is only INDICATIVE, it depends on the Hydrographic Service of the chart, and the duration of the license (3, 6, 12 months).

  • ENC charts are sold individually.
  • An ENC hart contains the same data as a paper chart but it is vectorized, that is to say that you can zoom the chart on your reader. On the other hand, if the original paper chart does not have the detail of a port, it will not appear on the ENC.
  • You can buy several ENCs at the same time, for example with an approach chart and a detailed chart of a port, when preparing the ENC, these charts will be assembled, so you will have an approach chart on which you can zoom to see the port detail.
  • The S57 are unencrypted, no need for a USER PERMIT.
  • S63s are encrypted, a USER PERMIT is required.

Supply of S57 / S63 charts for ECDIS and OPENCPN

To obtain an S57 chart, two cases are possible:

  • You have a reading system (software, ECDIS) that has a license for S57 charts, with S63 protection encryption. These are the "commercial" charts that professionals mainly use. No problem, we can provide you with the chart with a quote.
  • You do not have an S57 / S63 license and are looking for an S57 chart without encryption for use on OPENCPN type software. In this case we must make an individual request to the Admiralty to find out if you are eligible to order this chart. A quote is necessary as for the Admiralty geotiffs. But depending on the navigation area, there is no guarantee that this will be possible.

In both cases, you will need to send us your USER PERMIT, a 28-character number (numbers + letters) that appears on your software.

The delivery time for ENC charts is relatively short, between 24 and 48 hours.

    • To do this, view the catalog that includes ENC charts from all publishers on the planet
    • Choose the filters at the top right
    • Use the left button of your mouse to query the catalogTell us the chart(s) you want
  1. Tell us the period for chart updates: 3, 6, 12 months
  2. Give us your USER PERMIT number to establish a license. This number includes a set of 28 characters (numbers and letters). This code is generally found in the "help" or "about" functions of software.
  3. Tell us your reading system to check compatibility: ECDIS, computer navigation software, ...
  • Scale: ENCs are copies of paper charts, so the smaller the scale, the more detail there will be on the chart, like a paper chart.
  • ENC charts (S57 / S63) are digital nautical charts generally used by professionals on ECDIS or computers with software such as SeaPro. Professionals seem to be abandoning raster nautical charts in favor of ENCs.
  • ENC charts are published by all the hydrographic services on the planet: Shom, Admiralty, ...
  • S63 charts are sold individually and each user can build their basket as they wish, as with paper charts, unlike Navionics or C-map charts, for example, which include all existing charts for a region, at all scales in the region.
  • The coverage areas come from several Hydrographic Services (Shom, Admiralty, Japan, South Africa, Brazil, ...) and each publisher applies its own rate, we need to know the chart(s) you want.
  • In addition, S63 charts are sold with an update period that allows you to update these charts for free during this period. This period can be 3, 6 or 12 months (at the end of this period, the charts can remain usable depending on the reading system but can no longer be updated without purchasing a new update period), and the rate varies with the period subscribed.
  • We will need your USER PERMIT number (customer number, series of numbers or letters determined by the ECDIS or the software), which allows us to establish a license for the charts to be ordered.
  • The delivery of S63 charts consists of a link to download the CD containing the charts, and the provision of a permit file that will allow the charts to be installed in the software.

Duration:

On some ECDIS, the charts may no longer be usable after the subscription period expires.

You can read Raster and ENC S57 charts with software such as QGIS (Geographic Information System) and Global Mapper (wave wave modeling). For ENC S63 we have no information. These software are used for mapping and not navigation.

Before choosing your navigation software, it is interesting to consult our comparison of navigation software.

All nautical charts, paper or digital, are published to order and benefit from the latest updates. In accordance with the provisions of Article L221-28 of the Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised for the supply of goods likely to become obsolete quickly. These charts are neither returned nor exchanged. Consequently, these orders are definitively concluded upon placing the order by the Customer according to the terms specified in these General Terms and Conditions.
