OMI - IMO

The IMO, International Maritime Organization, establishes the main international frameworks governing maritime safety, commercial navigation, pollution prevention and maritime transport. Its conventions and codes include SOLAS, MARPOL, COLREG, STCW, GMDSS and the IMDG Code for dangerous goods. These regulations apply to shipping routes in the English Channel and North Sea, around Dunkirk, Le Havre, Rotterdam and Antwerp, as well as in the Bay of Biscay, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. They complement the nautical information provided by SHOM, ADMIRALTY and national hydrographic offices. IMO publications are particularly relevant to merchant marine officers, shipowners, shipping companies, maritime schools, fleet managers and port professionals looking for international regulatory documentation covering navigation, vessel safety, communications, dangerous goods and maritime operations.
